Gerome Najera
Coach Biography
Coach Gerome Najera brings over 40 years of playing/coaching experience. Coach Najera played college baseball at Occidental College in Los Angeles from 1992-1995. He had a exceptional career where he started at shortstop all four years earning 4 Gold Glove Awards as the team's best defensive player. He also was team captain both his junior and senior years while earning team MVP awards both years. He also was recognized with All-Conference and All-Region Awards in his senior year. In 2016, he was inducted into the Occidental Baseball Hall of Fame.
After graduating, Najera coached for two years at Occidental. In 1999, he went on to coach baseball at El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera for the next two years. Najera then returned to his alma mater for two more years.
Coach Najera started coaching softball with his older daughter, Vicky in 8U and all the way up to 16U with USA Athletics. He then went onto coaching his younger daughter Bella from 10U all the way until present. Najera lives in Pico Rivera with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children, Vicky, Bella and Raymond.
