Cassondra "Cassie" Krause

My name is Cassie Krause. I am a Junior at Wauwatosa East High School. I have played baseball/softball since I was 5 years old. My older brother played baseball and I wanted to play what he played. We would play catch with me and he would throw at me like his teammates. I played baseball until I was 9 and then I moved to softball. I love playing the game. I enjoy the hitting and trying to beat out a throw. I love chasing down a bunt and getting the person out a first base. I love chasing down a ball in the outfield and making the throw for a play at home. My favorite thing to do is stealing, or threatening to steal, rattling a pitcher or catcher until I take off on a delayed steal. I love the competition of the game. I have been lucky to play on some great teams and make lifelong friends.
My Freshman year in high school I made varsity. I started in right field but within 2 games earned my position at third base. I am a left handed player and I have heard a lot of conversation about a lefty at third but I think my backhand is as good as my forehand. I have played every position on the field and when a left plays shortstop, you have to be good at the backhand. My freshman year I had the third highest batting average with two seniors taking the top spots. At the end of the season I was name All Conference Honorable Mention.
I want to play softball in college because I love the sport, the team friendships, and the competition. I want to excel at the highest level I can in softball. I am competitive but a good teammate always cheering for and supporting others on my team. No matter where I play on the field, I want the pitcher to know I will do everything I can to get the out.
In my freshman year, I received an Achiever's Award, nominated by my teacher because I was always helping others in my class if they didn't understand an assignment and my teacher was helping other students. I sign up for advanced level and AP level classes.
